Greece vs. Germany?
New York Times
June 12, 2012
The Euro 2012 football championship — soccer to Americans — is riveting attention in Europe, perhaps more than the rescue of the Spanish banks or the Greek election on Sunday.
The format calls for groups of four countries to play round robins, with the two top teams in each group advancing to elimination rounds. And that is where the fun could begin.
If Greece, which is in Group A with Poland, Russia and the Czech Republic, managed to finish second in that group — an unlikely but possible scenario — it would play the winner of Group B on Friday, June 22. And that could well be Germany, which is favored to win its group over the Netherlands, Denmark and Portugal.
